Music Festival Ad Campaign

The objective was to create an advertising campaign for a music festival called “Let’s Get Groovy.” This 3-day energetic affair is full of live music and dancing, so I needed to incorporate that energy into my designs somehow. The festival also targets a younger audience, so I needed to showcase that through vibrant colors, extravagant typefaces, and stylized illustrations.

I wanted to mirror the kind of colors and tone people would expect at a music festival—vivacious, bold, and bright. Therefore, the unifying factor in each campaign piece is a rainbow swirl that mirrors the shapes of floating sound waves. The sound waves create movement and flow to otherwise static instruments on a page.

The central imagery in this campaign is four different musically-themed illustrations—a prominent bass speaker, a drum set, a piano, and drums. These are bold and eye-catching and connected to the rainbow swirls to depict noise. Each illustration has a sense of unstructuredness to attract a younger audience. The words “Let’s Get Groovy” is in a quirky, decorative typeface to emote playfulness and light, while the tagline and information are in a sleek serif style for contrast and to make the information visible and clear to readers quickly.
